"You have your lunch?" Uncle Peter asked as Phoebe sat in the back seat of the car, sorting through the stack of papers on her lap. It was an itinerary for the day. Short, but it helped Phoebe focus and understand what was going on. She lived for lists and organization, meanwhile thriving in absolute chaos.
At Peter Venkmans question (the Peter Venkman, who was recognizable even all this time later), Phoebe nods and holds her bag up.
"And you're going to call us when you're on your way back to Rays store, right?" Aunt Dana asked, smiling softly at her niece. Another nod from Phoebe and an inhale of breath, holding it for a beat or two as she watched a small crowd form at the doors to the school. "Nervous?" Dana spoke again, looking at the younger girl with concern. Phoebe turned to look at Dana, considering the question with her usual stoic expression before speaking in her usual, even tone.
"Inside, I'm freaking out," she admitted, smiling a bit self-consciously.
With that, she got out of the car and adjusted the messenger bag on her shoulder, the Ghost-Busters logo faded but still visible on the front. It wasn't brand advertising; Phoebe Spengler just supported what her uncles and late grandfather did.
With another wave to the Venkmans, Phoebe heads up the state and listens as names are called. When it gets to Phoebe Spengler (yes, that Spengler), Phoebe raised her hand and spoked.
"Here."
And then she ignored the way the people started staring and whispering, glancing briefly at her two tour guides before looking at the teacher in charge.
