Who're You Gonna Call?
New Students weren't a new thing for Midtown High. It was an extremely well known STEM school and there were new people every year. This year was a little different though because they'd been approved to offer off campus boarding for students who lived a little further than midtown. Peter had briefly looked into it but he was quick to discover that his scholarship stipend would not cover it and opted to keep his usual route which involved the subway. It was probably better that way anyway. He didn't need anyone else discovering he's Spider-Man.
However, that didn't save him from being contacted by Principal Morita himself with a request that he join the student welcome committee which was just a group of students that were to act as tour guide and show the new students around the school. He was promised it would look good on his college resume and if there was something Peter could do to help earn himself a scholarship he was going to do it.
...
Except that the other student that was asked to act as a tour guide was none other then Flash Thompson. He got to the building at ten ten (fifteen minutes after he was supposed to), saw Flash standing by front doors and thought: 'Yeah, this seems about right.' Flash looked up at Peter approached and rolled his eyes.
"Great. Now I've gotta do this with Penis Parker." He groaned. Peter sucked in a breath. He wasn't exactly thrilled with the arrangements either but he had exactly five minutes to get over himself and the new students would arrive.
"You couldn't even be here on time, why would Morita choose you?" Flash asked. Peter shrugged.
"Beeeecause I have the highest grade point average?" Peter pointed out. "At least, that's the reason he gave me. Sounds fake, really." Flash shot him a look.
"Whatever. I'm giving this tour, you keep your mouth shut or your dead." Flash threatened. Peter's lips thinned and he just nodded. That was gonna be a little hard for him but he wasn't up to challenging Flash this early in the morning. It was just a quick tour of the school with Flash and then he could leave and go do something else until school started tomorrow.

At Peter Venkmans question (the Peter Venkman, who was recognizable even all this time later), Phoebe nods and holds her bag up.
"And you're going to call us when you're on your way back to Rays store, right?" Aunt Dana asked, smiling softly at her niece. Another nod from Phoebe and an inhale of breath, holding it for a beat or two as she watched a small crowd form at the doors to the school. "Nervous?" Dana spoke again, looking at the younger girl with concern. Phoebe turned to look at Dana, considering the question with her usual stoic expression before speaking in her usual, even tone.
"Inside, I'm freaking out," she admitted, smiling a bit self-consciously.
With that, she got out of the car and adjusted the messenger bag on her shoulder, the Ghost-Busters logo faded but still visible on the front. It wasn't brand advertising; Phoebe Spengler just supported what her uncles and late grandfather did.
With another wave to the Venkmans, Phoebe heads up the state and listens as names are called. When it gets to Phoebe Spengler (yes, that Spengler), Phoebe raised her hand and spoked.
"Here."
And then she ignored the way the people started staring and whispering, glancing briefly at her two tour guides before looking at the teacher in charge.

"Come on everyone, let's give her some room-she's a teenager just like all of you." Mr Harrington tried to get their attention. "Moving on, my helpers on this tour guide are Eugene Thompson and Peter Parker."
"I go by Flash." Flash informed them all like it was even kind of a better name than Eugene.
"I'm-" Peter held his breath, suddenly feeling very uncomfortable. "I-I just go by Peter." He held up an awkward thumbs up.
"Peter here is one of our most gifted students and even has an Internship with Stark Industries." Mr Harrington said proudly.
"Yeah, or so he says." Flash commented in a way that wasn't overtly aggressive so there really wasn't a point in responding to it.

"You sound jealous, Eugene," Phoebe states, looking Eugene steadily in the eye. The use of his name was on purpose. Until she had a good reason to use his nickname, like coming off as a decent human being, she wasn't going with the nickname. He kind of acted like a dick. "Or threatened. I can't decide which."
A couple small snickers around her and Phoebe turns to look at the other visiting students, eyebrows furrowed for a moment until she realized they were laughing at what she said. She wasn't trying to be funny, just stating a fact. Mentally, she shrugs.
"Nice to meet you, Peter." Before she or anyone can really say anything more, the teachers motion for everyone to start walking inside.

"Okay everyone, there a quick breakfast in the cafeteria, lets get moving." He ushered them on. Flash shouldered Peter roughly when Harrington wasn't looking and Peter made a face, rubbing his shoulder like it hurt. Today was going great. Now all he needed was some world ending disaster to force him to abandon the whole thing. At least he was getting a free breakfast today.
He waited a moment so he'd be a good ways away from Flash as they moved towards the cafeteria. He paused when he noticed that put him near Pheobe.
"Oh.. hey.. um.. thanks. I-u-for earlier.. I guess." He offered awkwardly.
no subject
"You're welcome. I did not mean to make his behavior worse, by the way. I'm sorry for that."
Stepping in line for breakfast, she's pretty pleased to see it wasn't standard school fare. It looked like they actually gave a shit.
She's still sticking to her safe foods of a fruit salad and bacon, but they had both so she's happy. Picking up an apple juice, she looks at Peter again.
"How long has he been like that?"
no subject
"Flash? Um since grade school, actually. I think I was like in.. third grade the first time he decided I needed to have a personal meeting with the floor." And then things never changed. Which was way more of a problem up until about two years ago.
"Don't worry about him though, he's mostly all talk." Mostly, there were still days when Peter would get tripped in the hallway, shouldered into a locker or even knocked down the stairs by 'accident' but it was never anything anyone could prove as being intentional. The school had a strict policy against bullying Flash was careful to avoid detection.
"So.. where are you from? I'm from Queens so I'm really only here on a scholarship." He offered, his voice maybe a touch nervous.

Ah, Ivo. That crazy doctor who performed unnecessary surgeries, had a whole skyrise in New York built as a conduit to let Gozer in and even built a creepy temple to said death god in the selenium mines of Summerville. Him and his cult rant he town for a while until Gozer was defeated. The first time.
"My uncles heard of this school and told my mom about it. I applied and told mom I got in on a scholarship and..." A small shrug. Here she is.

"Oh! You're scholarship kid, too? That's awesome. we're pretty rare for some reason. I didn't really thing the entrance exam was that difficult but I think it's me uh you, I guess.. and um.. like three other kids. So.. what grade are you in? I'm starting my junior year."
no subject
"Junior. It's likely we'll have some classes together."
no subject
"Oh, cool. My friends Ned and MJ will be here tomorrow they're pretty awesome. If we have the same lunch you should sit with us." He offered as he pulled the tab off his fruit cup. "Um... if you want to, that is."
no subject
She liked the peace of something like that.
"I have to go back to my uncles shop after this. Rays Occult over on 6th, but there's a donut shop between there and here. Do you want to come with me and get donuts after this tour thing is over?"
no subject
He heard Flash whispering to another group and fights the urge to not listen in on whatever rumor he's spreading now.
"Um.. maybe if you want, some other time, I could take you Delmar's? It's got the best sandwiches in Queens." He explained. "Anywhere in particular you want to see in New York?"
no subject
"The donuts are huge. Soccer ball sized. We can share one. I just have to remember to bring one to my uncle. And Delmars sounds great. I'm looking forward to that."
