runs_on_batteries: (me and the boy against the world)

Just like the other two, Tony was stressed, hungry, and keeping it together only on the surface. His favorite tactic had always been to stay busy- which was very difficult when there was so little to do. However, he kept futzing with this or that, trying to find power sources to tap into or things to fix. He had actually found something to recharge Peter's stupid video but it was irritating him even on mute, so he hadn't told the kid about it yet.

He'd been real short with the boy the last day or so. It wasn't right and he wishes he could do something to make it up to him, but he can't seem to keep his emotions in check.

He knew he was going to die. There was no delusion in his mind about that. His one and only goal was to figure out how to save Peter. Obviously, he didn't tell the kid this. It would be too heavy of a burden for the both of them to bear while Tony was alive. He'd been putting off eating his space fruit today. If he could wait just a little longer maybe he'd be able to starve till tomorrow and let Peter have two. He just had to save the kid.

That's why when Nebula started shouting for him, he came running. Okay, that wasn't true. He would've come running anyway, but he was so afraid as he hurried to the back of the ship he'd find the boy dead. He almost passed out just seeing the boy unconscious in Nebula's arms. He put a hand to his face and barely managed to hold back a sob. "What happened?" He demanded. He put a hand to Peter's neck to check for a pulse.
